It’s funky, fashionable and multi-functional – what’s not to like about this new portable Bluetooth speaker, ambient LED light and power bank from Lava Sound & Vision

I’m not given to plugging products but I’ve just come on two smashing items which it would be selfish not to share.

First up is a funky portable Bluetooth speaker, ambient LED light and power bank device from British company Lava Sound & Vision.
There are plenty of Bluetooth speakers on the market but at this price (€54.99) I’m not aware of any which treble-up as a really cool ambient LED light with dimmer feature and a universal phone/tablet charging power bank. I got mine at Alo Donegans on Main Street, Portlaoise. I really like it and it’s going to get plenty of use this summer and beyond.

It’s a 3-in-one hit for campers and festival goers.
The Lava company pride themselves on design quality and boast award winning sound quality from the speaker which comes in a pint or blue option and claims an ‘unbeaten’ 36 hour play time, which I have yet to put to the test, but so far, really happy with the unit, which is ideal not just for camping but outdoor evening get together, beach parties, BBQs and of course the summer festival scene which is about to kick off in earnest, taking us right up to the Electric Picnic – tunes, a portable charger unit and a lantern with a handy handle – fashionable and multi-functional – what more could you want?
Second up in my travels today I came across this neat single ring gas cooker from Halfords. It’s a steal at just a €10, with a tempting special offer also on the gas with four cylinders for just €6.
These gas rings are worth their weight in gold (anglers love them) and it comes in a compact lightweight carry case. It’s perfect for camping and even with the campervan it avoids having to endure cooking smells inside as much as possible.

This single ring gas stove is a steal at a tenner from Halfords.
The design is simple. It’s like the AK47 of portable gas stoves – minimum moving parts, never lets you down and works in all weather conditions.
This version comes with its own built-in ignition system so you don’t even require matches which is really useful on wet and windy days. For best results make sure to read the safety instructions and operating tips.
